ColdFusion Community Pronunciation Guide

A recurring theme at CFUnited this year seemed to be proper pronunciation of community members' names. It came up at keynotes, during sessions, and even in line for breakfast. I've always lamented the fact that the internet doesn't come with a pronunciation guide. Just for kicks, I thought it might be fun to put one together for oft-mispronounced names in our community. I'll start, and you can continue adding in the comments, if you know more or have seen a name and aren't sure how to pronounce it.

• Pete Freitag -- owner of Foundeo and frequent speaker on Security. Apparently his last name is pronounced "Fry-tag". I had always said "Free-tag" in my mind.
• Ben Nadel -- the one person in the community who seems to blog more than Ray Camden. He pronounces his name "Nay-dl" (like "Navel").
• Doug Boude even lists in the <title> element of his website that his last name rhymes with 'loud'.

What others do you have no idea how to pronounce, or have you often heard mispronounced?

  Railo: 'rye-low'
  Mate: 'mah-tay' (like par-tay)
• Daria 02 Aug 2010 2:13 PM what i learned at cfunited is that the railo guys don't all pronounce it the same way either.

• Mark Drew 02 Aug 2010 2:50 PM Yep, it should be pronounced Rye-Lowe or something like that, I get away with pronouncing it oddly since I am English. We can get away with that kind of stuff.
  
  Although saying that Peter Bell and Sean both pronounce it Rye-Low rather than Ray-Low
